View local Symfony application on mobile device

by gentrobot » Tue Apr 19, 2011 9:40 am

Hi !

I have recently upgraded my Symfony 1.0 project to Symfony 1.1. It is working absolutely fine (thanks to all the support I received from this forum).

I am trying to optimize my project for mobile devices by following the tutorial at: http://www.symfony-project.org/blog/200 ... ymfony-1-1

I am using the desktop mobile browser emulator to test the website. I would like to know, if there is any method through which I can visit my local website on a mobile device, without moving it to production server?

Hehe you could always turn your 'home pc' into a server;)

I'd still prefer to have some sort of dev / test space on the very production environment (just in case you come into some cross-environment quirks after moving the project, etc.)

Yes, I solved this by renaming the table 'domain' to 'Hostname'.
( I think the class name 'domain' is reserved by Propel or Symfony. )

But I also had to delete all PHP files in /lib/model ,and /lib/form.
It is interesting because the application worked more than 1 years, without problem.

Is it possible that you put some template code for mobile version. In the tutorials I read about converting php files to json and xml. But how?
let say I have in the php template the following
Code: Select all
<?php foreach ($objects as $obj):?>
<div class="obj_title"><?php   echo $obj->getTitle();?></div>
<div class="obj_content"><?php  echo $obj->getContent();?></div>
<?php enforecah;?>

How to translate this code to mobile formats?

Thanks in advance.
Alex.
