I have been trying to get Symfony2 running under Linux-Mint 17, following the directions given in "The Big Picture".
PHP is at level 5.4 and the config check says that everything is o.k. When entering "symfony new myproject" from
a console window I keep getting the message
Symfony can't be installed because the downloaded package is corrupted
or because the installer doesn't have enough permissions to uncompress and
rename the package contents.
To solve this issue, try installing Symfony again and check the permissions of
the /windows/e/swdownloads/debian/Symfony directory
(1) I cannot determine whether the downloaded package (nearly 5 MB) IS in fact
(2) which permissions does the "installer" need and where do I check/provide these?
(3) the directory named in the error message DOES have the permissions 777.
/usr/local/bin/symfony has 755 permissions.
Any help would be much appreciated - I cannot carry on otherwise...
