Is this webserver sufficient to run symfony?

Installation and environment issues, mainly on 1.x but there's some 2.x here too.

Is this webserver sufficient to run symfony?

Hi all,

I've been looking for php5 hosts in Belgium and The netherlands, but it seems there aren't many around...If anyone knows a good host in any of these countries, or somewhere near them, let me know.

I've found one, inforbusiness.be, with the following technologies:

- FreeBSD 5.4
- Apache with mod_rewrite
- mysql 4.1.14
- php 5.0.4

(a FAMP install :D~ :-D~ :grin :)

It doesn't have shell access ofcourse, so i'll have to install the symfony pear classes by hand :s Hope that works out ok...

Any thoughts on this host? Is there anything else i have to look out for? Do the zend optimizer and eaccelerator have to be disabled on the server as well?

Thanks

So what i'm looking for is a list of prerequisites for symfony to run.

- php5
- apache with mod_rewrite enabled
- zend.ze1_compatibility_mode set to off
- magic_quotes_gpc set to off

Is there anything else to look out for? I'd rather know now than when i have ordered a server.

Thanks

mod_rewrite is not mandatory but enables you to get rid of index.php in URLs.

command line access is better, so you can use the symfony utility, you can also manage things with FTP.

Nothing else I can think now.
