new project - BBS/Forum software in Symfony

by pookey » Mon Apr 17, 2006 10:43 pm

I've started work in a BBS/Forum package written in symfony. Nothing too exciting yet, but if anyone wants to see it, here it is!

It's called 'OSPF: Open Symfony Project Forum - Keeping people connected' (tagline might change)

just to let you all know, this isn't vapourware quite yet ;)~ ;-)~

I've added the ability to create new threads now rather then just post to existing ones, and fixed a bug.

I'm looking for someone to help develop to speed things up a little - currently there is the entire user profiles and authentication system that needs working on that could be coded almost entirly seperate from the forum side of things. I know I was speaking to *someone* on IRC who offered help, but I forget who :)~ :-)~

Let me know!

Hey, Pookey, maybe you'd want to take a look at the first page of the trac, on the first line.

Somebody as made a little modification and I am still laughing !

I must admit... that was quite funny :D~ :-D~

Anyway, current state of the project is.... it's on hold :)~ :-)~

I'm trying to come up with a nice way of storing who's read what posts, storing all that information in a database isn't scalable (think 400,000 posts and thousands of users, which is the kinda scale I'm aiming for)

At the moment Ihave other stuff I'm working on, this project will be revisited at somepoint, and I'm more then happy for people to put work into it, I think the SVN is publicly commitable!
