Symfony and SQL Server 2008 with UTF-8

by mrugendrabhure » Sat Mar 16, 2013 4:59 pm

I have encountered a strange problem with Symfony and SQL Server 2008. I am using ODBC with SQL Server Native Driver to connect Symfony with SQL Server. Everything is OK, but for the data stored in the SQL server.

We are using UTF-8 encoding with Hebrew language for our web pages. Data saved is read properly in Symfony, but in SQL server (Viewed with Management Studio and ASP.NET ), the data looks garbaged. What is it that the PDO driver is doing to convert the data so it views properly in Symfony App ?

What do I need to do to make sure data is SQL server goes properly ? Has anybody worked with Symfony , SQL server and foreign language data UTF-8 / otherwise ?

Please help. Heres the screenshot:
