Integrating Magento With Symfony

Hi All,

I am developing a large application in Symfony 1.4 and a part of the application is an online store with shopping cart features. I was hoping that if I could somehow create this online ecommerce store using magento and then integrate it with my application in Symfony, it'd be much easier to develop. Has anyone of you done this before ? Could someone please guide me about the initial steps or things to keep in mind ? I am not looking for a step by step guide (won't mind if there exists one such guide ) but I just need a little guidance about how to proceed.
