How get slug generated for non-latin languages ?

Hello,
I internationalized my symfony 1.4 project and everything is right. but when persisting a doctrine record, I notice slug was not generated for non-latin languages sucu as Chinese, Japanese and Arabic. Could anyone help fix this problem ? Thks.
