Problems starting symfony

Postby flesheater » Fri Oct 22, 2010 2:30 pm

Hello ! I am now starting to use symfony. I've tried for a few days but now I decided to ask for some help ...
I've tried some windows wamp platforms because first of all I had problems with the compatible of symfony with my server ...
Now I installed wamp5_1.7.4 and the check_configuration.php file shows this:
Code: Select all
********************************
*                              *
*  symfony requirements check  *
*                              *
********************************

php.ini used by PHP: C:\wamp\Apache2\bin\php.ini

** Mandatory requirements **

  OK        PHP version is at least 5.2.4 (5.2.5)

** Optional checks **

  OK        PDO is installed
  OK        PDO has some drivers installed: sqlite, sqlite2
  OK        PHP-XML module is installed
  OK        XSL module is installed
  OK        The token_get_all() function is available
  OK        The mb_strlen() function is available
  OK        The iconv() function is available
  OK        The utf8_decode() is available
[[WARNING]] The posix_isatty() is available: FAILED
            *** Install and enable the php_posix extension (used to colorized the CLI output) ***
  OK        A PHP accelerator is installed
  OK        php.ini has short_open_tag set to off
  OK        php.ini has magic_quotes_gpc set to off
  OK        php.ini has register_globals set to off
  OK        php.ini has session.auto_start set to off
  OK        PHP version is not 5.2.9

First I want to ask is it OK to work with this warning ?
And another question:why this tutorial -> http://articles.sitepoint.com/article/symfony-beginners-tutorial
when I make the things to show the http://localhost/sf_sandbox/web/frontend_dev.php/photo. for the first time it shows me this:

The answer for the first and second post, yes it is ok. For the errors you've encountered, it's seem you are using symfony 1.4.x, whereas the tutorial is intended for symfony 1.0.x.
I recommend you to learn from jobeet tutorial http://www.symfony-project.org/jobeet/1_4/

ok ... i think i was using 1.0.2 but I will try...
is it possible for me to use sf_sandbox for jobeet ... now I've pasted the sandbox and it shows me without images ... what should I do to make it work normal ?
last time I just pasted sf folder from older version and it worked but I don't think that is correct ... so do you know ?

yes I started the jobeet ...
but there it is not written what to do if it shows this :"his project uses the symfony libraries. If you see no image in this page, you may need to configure your web server so that it gains access to the symfony_data/web/sf/ directory."
I really did all that was written in the tutorial since then and there were no problems on the command line ... it generated the project correctly but when i opened http://localhost/jobeet/web/frontend_dev.php it shows without images ... when I checked what was generated like folders it was all generated but there is no folder sf in the web folder ... have you faced this problem ever ?
thanks for the answers :]

Of course, because you hadn't configure your web server. If you access your application via http://localhost/jobeet/web/frontend_dev.php, you have to copy sf directory (symfony/data/web/sf) to your web directory

EDIT:
Have a look at Web Server Configuration: The secure Way, how to setup your web server

thank you!
now I am at jobeet at this part http://www.symfony-project.org/jobeet/1_4/Propel/en/03
i ran all the steps as shown but now when i run this
$ php symfony propel:generate-module --with-show --non-verbose-templates frontend job JobeetJob
at the command prompt it says me Unable to generate module for non existing model JobeetJob ...
what should I do ... i've ran the code(php symfony propel:build --model
) before that

Take a look in lib/model/ directory, to ensure whether the model successfully generated by symfony.
